Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory Welcomes Katherine Burburan to Its Faculty.
Live Oak Theatre and Conservatory is particularly pleased to welcome Katherine (Kat) Burburan to its faculty. Ms. Burburan is an experienced and skillful dancer who will instruct conservatory students in the following:
Ballet - This is an open ballet class; all levels are welcome from beginner to professional. Basic barre and center technique will be taught, as well as vocabulary, body positioning, and class etiquette. No previous experience needed, this class is great for anyone wanting to refine their technique or just to have fun! Mondays 8:00-9:00pm
Ballet (level 1) For ages 8-12, This is a beginner level class, introducing students to ballet positions, movement, vocabulary, and barre work. Students will also be trained in body and space awareness, class etiquette, and strength building for success in all genres of dance. Thursdays 1:00-1:50pm
Ballet (level 2) For ages 12 through adult. This is an intermediate level ballet class. Students will continue training in ballet positions, vocabulary, and barre work. The focus is to increase technique and stability at the barre and center. Thursdays 2:00-2:50pm
Ballet (level 3) By invitation only, This is an advanced level ballet class. Students will already have a basic understanding of technique and vocabulary. Students will continue training in barre work and center, with a focus on rhythm and musicality. Thursdays 3:00-3:50pm
Lyrical Dance (advanced) Using technique learned in ballet, students will train in expressive movement. Students will also engage in group choreography projects, learning how to create and teach movement. Mondays 7:00-7:50pm

About Katherine Burburan
Katherine trained in dance for 12 years across multiple studios and teachers. She started her training at Erin's Danceworks in 2006, learning ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and competing in competitions around the country. She then began study at John Leggio's Center for the Performing Arts in 2012, with John Leggio and Edwina Nelson, who trained at Central School of Ballet and went on to perform professionally around the United Kingdom.
She began advanced training in ballet, pointe, and modern under Edwina Nelson and then continued training with her and Joey King at The Nelson Grey Academy in 2013. With the Nelson Grey Academy, Katherine performed Martha Graham's "Appalachian Springs", an original piece by Edwina Nelson "Welcome to the Machine," and achieved Second Place Overall Solo at Starbound Dance Competition in 2015.
Katherine went on to study ballet and modern at Santa Fe College in 2017, with Alora Haynes and Melissa Brenner. She participated in the student choreographed show Room To Dance, creating her first performed piece and performing in other student's pieces. Katherine has continued to dance independently, taking classes in Tampa, Florida and through online services during the pandemic.
An open house and registration for classes at the Live Oak Conservatory will be held on Saturday, August 21 from 11 am to 2 pm at the Carol & Frank Morsani Center for the Arts, 21030 Cortez Boulevard, Brooksville, Florida 34601.
