Class Descriptions

Acro (1 credit) Taught by Gavin Yorro. Ages 7-12, Students will learn safe tumbling and stunt techniques, how to fall properly, and spatial awareness. Thursdays 3:00-3:50pm

 

Acting (1 credit) – Taught by Vince Vanni and offered the first 4 weeks of  term. Ages 8-18, covers basic elements of acting, terminology, proper movement, characterization, line expression, basic scene study, using humor, memorizing and delivering monologues, and more! Designed to prepare students for our Acting class, those who complete the course will be prepared to join the Acting class, and to audition for stage and video/film projects. Mondays 4:00-4:50pm

 

Adult Dance (1 credit) Taught by Andi Garner Want to move and get in shape while having fun? Calling all adults! Learn everything from line dances maybe swing ballet tap and jazz. Whatever we feel like! Meet friends and get in shape Thursdays 10:00-10:50am

 

Adult Improv (1 credit) - Taught by Esprit Herbert. Students ages 19 & up learn the art of improvisation both in speech and movement. They will learn to think on their feet, to become confident in their actions and to go with the flow because in improv, anything can happen! Mondays 7:00-7:50pm

Ballet (1 credit) Taught by Katherine Burburan This is an open ballet class, all levels are welcome from beginner to professional. Basic barre and center technique will be taught, as well as vocabulary, body positioning, and class etiquette. No previous experience needed, this class is great for anyone wanting to refine their technique or just to have fun! Mondays 8:00-8:50pm

Ballet (level 1) (1 credit) Taught by Katherine Burburan. Ages 8-12, This is a beginner level class, introducing students to ballet positions, movement, vocabulary, and barre work. Students will also be trained in body and space awareness, class etiquette, and strength building for success in all genres of dance. Thursdays 1:00-1:50pm

Ballet (level 2) (1 credit) Taught by Katherine Burburan. Ages 12+, This is an intermediate level ballet class. Students will continue training in ballet positions, vocabulary, and barre work. The focus is to increase technique and stability at the barre and center. Thursdays 2:00-2:50pm

Ballet (level 3) (1 credit) Taught by Katherine Burburan. By invitation only, This is an advanced level ballet class. Students will already have a basic understanding of technique and vocabulary. Students will continue training in barre work and center, with a focus on rhythm and musicality. Thursdays 3:00-3:50pm

Chorale (1 credit) Taught by Riley Mantonya. Ages 10+, Chorale is an exceptional ensemble for male and female vocalists who are serious about singing. Music of many styles and languages will be performed. Mondays 7:00-7:50pm

Jazz (1 credit)  - Taught by Andi Garner. From Broadway to hip hop, come explore musical theatre from past to present. In this class you will learn a new combination every week from Broadway musicals past and present with an emphasis on all styles of jazz. Learn original choreography from George M! A Chorus Line! Even Hamilton! Thursdays 11:00-11:50am

Junior Improv (1 credit) - Taught by Esprit Herbert. Students ages 8-12 learn the art of improvisation both in speech and movement. They will learn to think on their feet, to become confident in their actions and to go with the flow because in improv, anything can happen! Thursdays 10:00-10:50am

Lyrical (advanced) (1 credit) - Taught by Katherine Burburan. Ages 10+. Using technique learned in ballet, students will train in expressive movement. Students will also engage in group choreography projects, learning how to create and teach movement. Mondays 7:00-7:50pm

Music Theory (1 credit) - Taught by Riley Mantonya. An introductory course to music theory, history and performance. Students will explore music's various functionalities in order to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for all types of music. We recommend this course for all students taking private lessons. Mondays 4:00-4:50pm beginning in January.

 

Musical Theatre Hip Hop (1 credit) - Taught by Andi Garner. Ages 12+. This dance class is geared towards Musical Theatre performers who would like to learn current technique used in many of the musicals that are currently on Broadway. Mondays 6:00-6:50pm

Pre-K Level Dance (1 credit) – Taught by Jesalyn Mitten. Ages 2-4, learning readiness program to develop motor skills and body awareness. Fundamentals of Tap and Ballet. Thursdays 10:00-10:45am

Primary Acting (1 credit) Taught by Stephania Torres. Ages 5-8, Students will learn the basic skills required to successfully perform in stage productions. The class will lay a foundation for children to develop as they grow as actors. Thursdays 4:00-4:50pm

Primary Art (1 credit) Taught by Lenia Staley. Ages  5-8, Students will learn basic visual art skills through various projects that focus on different skills. Thursdays 5:00-5:50pm

 

Primary Combo (1 credit) – Taught by Jesalyn Mitten and Lexi Allocco. Ages 5-7, The next level of the Pre-K 2-4 class. Styled for increased flexibility, strength, speed, balance, coordination and endurance. Introduces movement combinations requiring more coordination and concentration. Thursdays 11:00-11:50am

Primary Tap (1 credit) - Taught by Jesalyn Mitten and Lexi Allocco. Ages 5-7 learn basic Tap techniques with emphasis on performance. Ear and rhythm training. Thursdays 12:00am-12:50pm.

Senior Improv (2 credits) -Taught by Esprit Herbert. Students ages 12-18 learn the art of improvisation both in speech and movement. They will learn to think on their feet, to become confident in their actions and to go with the flow because in improv, anything can happen! Thursdays 11:30am-1:00pm OR Thursdays 1:30-3:00pm.

Tap (1 credit) Taught by Andi Garner. Ages 12+, learn techniques in Tap with emphasis on form and aspects of performance. Learning Tap gives ear training and the ability to learn complicated rhythm patterns. Mondays 5:00-5:50pm OR Thursdays 12:00-12:50pm

Youth Art ($50/month) - Taught by Robyn Gray. Ages 9-19, Students will be taught about perspective, basic shapes, shading, reflections and blending as they work with a different medium each month: charcoal & pastels, watercolor, acrylics, colored pencils, mosaics, copper art, or wood burning. Some of their works will be displayed at City Hall. Mondays 5:00-6:30pm

Youth Theatre (4 credits)Directors will rotate. Ages 8-18, a performance based Musical Theatre class where students meet twice a week to develop skills in Drama, Music and Dance as they rehearse and perform in a one act musical theatre production on our Live Oak stage. This class will rehearse and perform three musicals per year and be featured in Brooksville's annual tree lighting. Tuesdays AND Thursdays 4:00-6:00pm. Weekend performances.
