Live Oak Theatre to Hold Auditions for the Musical, The Secret Garden
Brooksville, Florida (January, 2016) – The Live Oak Theatre Company announces that auditions for its April production of The Secret Garden will be held on January 30 at Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 200 Mt. Fair Avenue, Brooksville, FL 34601. All auditions are by appointment only. Email email@example.com to schedule an appointment.
Those who attended the season auditions in August need not audition again. Call backs and casting will be based on both season audition and the upcoming audition. The roles of “Lily” and “Archibald” have been cast from the season audition. We are particularly looking for a male, age 35-55, baritone vocal range, for the role of Dr. Neville Craven.
Those who audition should prepare 16 bars from a song that shows their strengths and vocal range. A less than two minute monologue will be welcome, but is not required. Cold readings will only be used for adults who audition and for children’s call backs.
Children who audition and have no prior experience with Live Oak Theatre, should have completed Live Oak Theatre’s Basic Acting and Introduction to Live Oak Theatre program or Live Oak Theatre’s performing arts summer camp.
For more information go to Live Oak Theatre’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/LiveOakTheatre or email LiveOakTheatre@GMail.com.
The Secret Garden will be performed on Fridays and Saturdays April 29, 30, May 6 and 7.
About The Secret Garden
This enchanting classic of children’s literature is re-imagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of ‘Night Mother. Orphaned in India, 11 year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate’s many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and the “Dreamers”, spirits from Mary’s past who guide her through her new life, dramatizing The Secret Garden’s compelling tale of forgiveness and renewal.
